Face Lift – Side Profile Comparison
This is Dr. Nakao from Nakao Plastic Surgery.
This is a comparison photo of a side profile before and after a facelift surgery.
The patient has a history of undergoing a Mini Facelift in the past.
This time, we performed Deep Plane Facelift, Neck Lift and Platysmaplasty(Pelican Surgery) to beautifully contour her facial features.
Compared to the Extended Deep Plane Face Lift, which has become increasingly popular in Japan recently, the Neck Lift (lateral neck lift) that we perform involves pulling the deeper part of the muscles (platysma). As a result, there are more cases where Pelican Surgery is not necessary.
However, in cases like this one, where there is significant sagging not only in the neck but also under the chin, a Neck Lift alone may not be sufficient. Therefore, we combined it with Platysmaplasty or commonly called "Pelican Surgery".
Pelican Surgery's standard procedure involves removing the fat above and below the platysma, suturing the hyoid bone and platysma and tightening the platysma. The method for treating the digastric muscle, fascia and platysma is a complex surgical approach. In Japan, it is often performed as a standalone procedure. However, when considering facial contour rejuvenation, I believe that the Lateral Neck Lift (neck lift) is essential to pull the platysma outward.
The lifting of the neck, jawline, and midface has been achieved.
At our clinic, we combine various lifting techniques to create a tailored, customized facelift for each patient.
