Correction of Nasal Deformity
Hello, this is Dr. Nakao from Nakao Plastic Surgery.
Septorhinoplasty is a procedure that reconstructs both the pillar of the nose—the nasal septum (including the septal cartilage, the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone, and the vomer) and the roof of the nose—the nasal bones.
In Japan, for a long time, Plastic Surgeons have commonly treated patients with Nasal Deformities, such as Deviated Noses, by performing Osteotomy of the nasal bones alone in an attempt to straighten the nose.
However, in recent years, it has become increasingly recognized that reconstruction of both the roof and the pillar is critically important.
At our clinic, as one of the pioneers of Septorhinoplasty in Japan, we have performed numerous procedures over the years.
There are many benefits to performing Septorhinoplasty not only in collaboration with ENT (Otolaryngology) Surgery or ENT-Plastic Joint Surgery, but also as a stand-alone procedure performed solely by plastic surgeons.
There are many techniques for Septoplasty, and to manipulate the Nasal Septum effectively, the surgeon must have a thorough understanding of the external nasal structure.
There are also numerous surgical techniques for Nasal Osteotomy, and the procedure is best performed by a surgeon with experience in these methods.
Performing the surgery as a standalone procedure allows for a shorter operation time, making outpatient surgery under general anesthesia safer and more feasible.
Since the Nasal Tip also contributes to nasal breathing function, it is best operated by a surgeon experienced in Nasal Tip Plasty Surgery.
The Nasal Bridge is now straight,
and the asymmetry of the Nostrils has also been corrected.
